We took our truck here to get a couple of new tires put on. First, they gave us the wrong tires so we had to go back.

No big deal, things happen. However, after they put the correct pair of tires we took it to our mechanic a week later because we noticed the steering seemed worse after the new tires were put on. Come to find out who ever at discount tire put the left front tire on did not tighten the bolt to keep the tire on and it was ready to snap. If we did not take it to our mechanic shortly after getting the new tires on it very well may have broke and we would have lost control of the truck.

Needless to say, we could have been killed because of their shotty work at discount tire in Burlington. Don't go to this discount tire, it's not worth your loved ones lives.

Monetary Loss: $150.

Location: Gig Harbor, Washington

IF WHEELS WERE NOT PROPERLY TORQUED THEY CAN COME OFF AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF DRIVING. ALSO A RE-TORQUE IS NOT REQUIRED AFTER NEW TIRES ARE INSTALLED BUT WITH NEW WHEELS.

AND IF THE TRUCK IS A FORD WITH FLAT WASHER STYLE LUGNUTS IT SHOULD BE TORQUED IN THE AIR. NOT ON THE GORUND.

First of all, your wheels aren't held in place with "a bolt."

There are SEVERAL lug nuts that thread on to wheel studs.

I don't work for Discount Tire, or any tire shop for that matter (and never have)... but it is common knowledge that you need to re-torque lug nuts after re-installing the wheels and driving a few miles.

Perhaps Discount Tire failed to properly torque your lug nuts, or perhaps you failed to re-torque them after driving a short distance.

Or possibly, you don't have a clue what you're talking about and the "mechanic" just bamboozled you out of your hard earned money.

We will never know...

Yes, they would last a week. Have had it happen on another car many years ago when the same thing with the lugs happened.

But the loose lugs were not discovered until the car got off the off ramp and would not stop! Unknown to myself, I drove that car for almost two weeks with loose lugs. The mechanics at 76 Car Care told me I could have died and I was very lucky. There is no need for personal attacks against me or smug comments about loose lugs and how they work--as you, clearly, do not.

:roll

Just for the record, I have been to other Discount Tire stores and they gave me good service.

But this particular store needed to be scolded as this was a mistake that could have COST SOMEONE THEIR LIFE!! Buyer Beware!

A week later huh? If the lugs were no tightened mechanics say they wouldnt last a week. Too bad, we could use a little less people like you in this world.
