Defective work, not standing by work

A day after have two front axles replaced by Discount Tire Center my car became inoperable on the freeway. The tow truck driver, without being told about any work being recently done, commented that it appeared the axle was broken. The dealership where the car was towed after the breakdown said that the axle had been installed incorrectly. Discount Tire would not pay for the repair costs related to their defective work. They claimed that they would only be responsible if the var had been returned to one of their shops. I told them that after my life had been put in danger due to their shoddy work I had no intention of having them touch my car again. The refused to take any further responsibility.

I believe this customer was referring to Discount Tire Center, not Discount Tire Co.

This is from the original poster.

I have posted a link before to Discount Tires website were they list the mechanical services they perform. It was removed by this site.

I had this work done by the Discount Tires on Fountain Ave. in Los Angeles, CA.

They do all types of mechanical work in addition to tire specific work.

This person is ignorant. Discount tire only does wheels and tires. No mechanical...dbag

You have to take all these complaints with a grain of salt. I'm not saying that places like Discount Tire, NTB, Firestone, Kauffman Tire, etc.

can't make mistakes and in some cases even damage your car or rip you off. Those kind of things happen in any industry. It is kind of funny though to read these knowing that in most cases the customer is the one at fault or it would have been handled by management immediately.

At my store we know the customers who are going to be problems the second they walk in. They are the same ones that complain everywhere they go.

Guest

like the other two people said Discount tire only does wheels and tires nation wide period. This is not Discount Tire you are complaining about!

Guest

Yes, that is true. Discount ONLY does wheels and tires.

Period.

Whatever company this person is complaining about is NOT Discount Tire Company. We do NOT replace axles or anything of the sort.

Guest

Discount Tire doesn't even do mechanical work.

Discount Tire lied about tire

I had an obviously defective tire, as inspected by 2 other tire stores. Discount Tire, where I bought it orginally, said I had a mechanical problem.

The sidewall of the tire had separated, as can only be seen from the dis-mounted tire, inside view, had a loud 'thump' while driving and an obvious 'cup' wear pattern on a section. I had the suspension checked out and the mechanic said the problem was the tire. This was an additional $74 with no fix. I replaced the tire with Walmart for $50 less than DT.

Avoid these guys and their minimum wage 'experts'.

A $150 tire from DT acutally cost me $339 by the time it was corrected.

Cup wear would be caused by a mechanical problem. Seperation is were the steel belts seperate from the compound, there are not steel belts in your sidewall that would seperate, unless you hit something causing the rubber layer insides to split.

DISCOUNT TIRE - TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!

On 4-7-2008 I had three tires replaced by Discount Tire at 160 Woodstock Square Ave Woodstock, GA 30189. I had a spare tire stowed underneath the vehicle. The spare tire was not installed correctly.

The week of May 20, 2008, the incorrectly installed spare tire came free while driving down the interstate and damaged my vehicle and a vehicle that was following my vehicle. I visited Discount Tire the next morning. Discount Tire apologized for incorrectly installing the spare tire and immediately replaced the spare tire. Discount Tire also offered to pay for damages to my vehicle.

I later filed a claim with my insurance company. My insurance company contacted Discount Tire in an effort to retrieve payment for damages to the vehicle driving behind me.

I later received a letter in the mail stating that the Discount Tire employee that installed the tires on my vehicle did not install the spare on the vehicle because the spare tire mechanism was broken. The letter stated that the Discount Tire Employee did not put the tire underneath the vehicle but instead placed the tire in a bag in the back of the vehicle.

The receipt contains a work order that was not filled out at the time of service. When I tried to get payment for the damages to my vehicle, the store refused to give payment and told me to contact corporate Discount Tire. When I contacted Corporate Discount Tire the individual that handles claims said that she sides with Discount Tire employees and would not pay for the damages to my vehicle even though the Discount Tire employee was lying.

If the Discount Tire employee was not lying, would any company replace a tire, rim, and offer to fix damages if they told me the spare tire mechanism was bad. I would believe not. But when an insurance company comes after your company for 3100.00 dollars in damages, all of a sudden the Discount Tire employee remembered putting my tire in a bag in the rear of the vehicle calling me a liar.

Why put a tire in a bag? How does a bagged tire fall out of a truck bed?

This story is so fishy it stinks really bad.

I guess if you lowered the tail gate and drive fast in reverse, brake hard the tire would fall out. maybe that's what the guy did.

Discount Tire just submits the claim to their insurance company anyway, so its not like it's a ton of money out of their pocket either way. If they didn't approve payment, obviously something else happened here that isn't being described

Stop being cheap

Wish you wouldn't lie.
